Topps
Project 2020 & Project 70
Aligning with the beginning of the pandemic in the winter/spring of 2020, I was 1 of 20 artists asked to interpret and translate 20 of the most classic, and iconic Topps baseball cards.
These unique artist cards were made available for 48 hours only on the Topps website, and the print run of each card was determined by how many sold in that narrow time window.
These 2 unique projects with a format and a company i have loved since i was a kid in the 1970’s, with a deep love of baseball, and the New York Yankees in Particular(i was born and raised 20 minutes north of The Bronx), gave me the opportunity, emotional, & conceptual inspiration, to develop and coalesce a system and a style of story telling portraiture and narrative illustration. They enabled me to blend & assimilate a lifetime of drawing and designing sensibilities cultivated for over 40 years.
